Job Description: REGISTER NURSE

Job Summary:

Register Nurse assess clients’ home environments and instruct clients and their families. They must be able to work independently and will supervise caregivers and NAs in-home settings. The service Supervisor travels to clients’ homes, hospitals, assisted/independent living facilities, and other sites. Service supervisors may spend considerable time walking and standing.

Assess clients and associated needs and develop POC for each client. Service Supervisors must be available both by phone and in person for the hours the agency provides care for clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and State of North Carolina Registered Nurse License
  • At least One year of Home Care experience.
  • Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures
  • Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration
  • Knowledge of patient evaluation procedures.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Visit the new client’s home to perform physical and environmental assessments, conduct the initial assessment for in-home aide clients, and develop a Plan of Care with the client and family members. Complete all other documents required to provide in-home service to the client. Orient in-home aide to POC as needed.

2. Visit clients within 75-90 days to perform caregiver/aide supervision. Review client status and document any changes to physical assessment, and environmental assessment of POC.

3.  Verify the competency of in-home caregivers and NAs.

4. Instruct NAs as needed to provide education for unfamiliar tasks i.e., Hoyer lift operation.

5. Visit the client when necessary to address concerns/issues.

6. Service Supervisor must be able to work independently and will supervise NAs and caregivers.

7. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Must be available both by phone and in person for the hours the agency provides care to clients.
